Hailing from sunny Los Angeles California, Acetone makes a comfortable spot for themselves in the music industry, and it's not in one particular genre, because "we don't lock ourselves into a category," says the trio's main vocalist Richie Lee, who is also the group's bass player.
It all started as early as 1987 when Richie was attending Cal Arts in Valencia, CA. There he met Mark Lightcap, the group's guitarist, and drummer Steve Hadley was attending high school. Before Acetone's 1993's debut CD Cindy was released, the guys went through a number of vocalists before they realized it was meant to be just them, a threesome. Cindy was a blend of pop, garage and underground sounds, but that wasn't enough for them.

In 1994 the I Guess I Would EP was dropped and it delved into none other than country music. 1996 marked the band's sophomore effort titled If You Only Knew. The album combined the works of both of their full-lengths and brought together both audiences. In 1997 Vapor Records welcomed Acetone to its label, and the trio recorded their self-titled and third LP. The album continues with Acetone's growth and satisfies their fan's curiosity as to what to expect next from them with their "live" sound.Time will only tell what to expect from Acetone in the new millennium.
